What our parents say about Tara International School

After considering various preschool options in Gangtok, I chose Tara Montessori for my child, and I could not be more satisfied with the decision. What distinguishes Tara Montessori is not only its well-structured and authentic Montessori curriculum, but also the strong emphasis placed on values and character formation.

As a parent, I firmly believe that education should go beyond academics. The most important lesson I want my child to learn is the value of mutual respect and the importance of becoming a good human being who, in the future, follows the path of compassion and altruism, as always guided by our Root Guru, His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama. Tara Montessori has been instrumental in nurturing these qualities from the very beginning of my child’s educational journey.

The environment at Tara Montessori is calm, respectful, and nurturing, and the educators consistently model the values they wish to impart. I have observed a positive transformation in my child—developing not only confidence and curiosity, but also kindness, empathy, and consideration for others.

In comparison to other preschools in Gangtok, Tara Montessori truly stands apart by balancing academic learning with moral and social growth. I am deeply grateful to the school for providing such a holistic foundation, ensuring that children are not only prepared for academic success but are also guided toward becoming responsible, compassionate, and value-driven individuals.

A Beautiful Beginning When our son (Tenzin Yonten Wangdi) joined Tara Montessori at 2½ years old, he was already a curious little boy who loved counting, identifying colors, and solving puzzles. From the very beginning, the Montessori environment embraced his natural interests and encouraged him to explore even more.

Over the months, we watched him blossom into a confident three-year-old. He has become more independent—pouring his own water, tidying up after activities, putting on his shoes by himself, and even becoming fully potty trained. His vocabulary has expanded, and he now expresses his thoughts in full sentences. We’ve also seen a beautiful growth in his social skills-he greets friends warmly, shares materials, and enjoys group activities. \

One of our favorite aspects of Tara Montessori is the open outdoor space, which gives him plenty of opportunities to explore nature, engage in outdoor activities, and stay physically active every day.

The teachers are wonderfully warm and loving during drop-off and pick-up, and when the children head home at the end of the day they wave to each other as if saying goodbye to family. It’s heartwarming to witness such genuine affection among them. The caring teachers and thoughtfully prepared environment have nurtured his love of learning while helping him reach new milestones with joy and confidence. We are so grateful for this wonderful start to his educational journey.

Tara International School has truly become a second home for our daughter, Myra. The school provides her with engaging activities that enrich her sensorial learning and overall development. Through this journey, we have also gained valuable insights into her growing personality and the areas where she faces challenges, allowing us to better support her.

What we appreciate most is that Myra has never once resisted going to school. She walks in with joy and returns home fulfilled, after a day of meaningful activities. The faculty members, being highly trained and deeply committed, keep us updated with genuine warmth whenever she makes progress, which brings us immense happiness. We remain eternally grateful to Tara International School for accepting Myra into their very first batch and look forward to many more wonderful years of growth, activities, and joyful learning.

Tara International comes with a refreshing new approach to a child’s learning. Since joining the school, we’ve seen a beautiful change in our child. Learning is no longer a task—it’s something our child looks forward to with excitement. The practical way of teaching, from phonetics to block learning and hands-on activities, makes every subject come alive and keeps that natural curiosity growing.

It’s only been a short time, but the progress is remarkable. Our child is more confident, independent, and genuinely happy to learn. We truly believe this approach is opening up a bright and promising future. The daily update from our son back from school is the delicious homemade snacks.

At the start of the academic year, our daughter though smart and clever was a bit behind on her social skills. Since joining school however, that shy demure infant has slowly evolved into a more confident and vivacious enfant terrible. And we wouldn't have it any other way. The fact that she loves it there is just the icing on the cake.
